We started off the season with a small but wonderful wedding. Molly & Derek reached out to me when they had already decided on their venue. They fell in love with the beautiful Casa Brewer at Las Catalinas, and well, who wouldn’t? We had planned a dinner party there earlier in the year (and it was also the location of my bachelorette weekend), and was thrilled to finally get to do a wedding there.

Molly and Derek wanted their guests to have a great Costa Rica experiences, so we helped them plan a casual cookout on the night of their arrival as well as their rehearsal dinner, which took place at the place wit what is possibly the coolest vibe and the most amazing views in the area, Casa Chameleon at Las Catalinas

Inspired by the colonial/mediterranean architecture of Las Catalinas and Casa Brewer (sorry, can’t really decide which describes it best), and the bride’s preference for clean and light decor, we opted for neutrals and whites all through the design, incorporating the surrounding greenery into it as much as possible. Tables were set up in the courtyard at Casa Brewer (for photos only, as unfortunately, we had a bit of rain that made us move into our covered space (a must in the Costa Rica rainy season, as rain can come out of the blue at any time) for the actual dinner. The rains did end, so dancing under the stars was in order.

The ceremony site was located on a terrace overlooking the ocean, and surrounded by trees, the sea and 30 of their nearest and dearest, Molly & Derek said I DO in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Intimate celebration in Costa Rica / Anna & Matthew at Westin Reserva Conchal

I have a special place in my heart for intimate destination weddings. I find that sharing your wedding with your nearest and dearest, and getting to spend a weekend (or sometimes more) with them in a beautiful location, exploring, celebrating, and just having fun, will be one of your most cherished memories in life (I know this from personal experience!). Anna & Matthew’s Costa Rica wedding at the Westin in Reserva Conchal was no exception!

Despite the August date, the weather gods were on our side, and Anna & Matthew were able to have their ceremony in one of my favorite ceremony spots, under a matapalo tree overlooking the ocean through lush, tropical foliage. With a simple setting incorporating wood and white floral with loose greenery, we let nature (and our stunning bride and groom) take center stage.

We wanted the wedding design to be simple and beautiful, with romantic florals and gold accents. With the addition of beautiful Guanacaste wood tables from Eventos Artesanos, we brought a bit of the outside natural feel into the dining space, and finished off with beautiful calligraphy placards on hand painted paper. My main goal is to bring our clients’ vision to life, serving almost as a translator navigating from a visual inspiration to what can be accomplished at a destination location where availability tends to be a bit more limited than what our clients are used to… Seeing an event come to fruition is such an exciting process!!
