Bougainvilleas in the garden / Erica & Rudi private estate wedding in San Jose

Private estate weddings are some of my favorites. The uniqueness of each location, and incorporating it into the overall wedding design, is one of the things I love the most. I am a firm believer in allowing the existing surroundings be a part of the wedding style (this is the reason why I hate ballrooms), and am always up for the challenge of turning a private house into the perfect wedding venue.

For Erica & Rudi’s wedding (one of the few non-destination weddings we do every year) we were inspired by the combination of the lush “city gardens” and the classical feel of the estate. Following the Catholic wedding, guests arrived at Casa Pinar and walked up the tree lined driveway and into a prefectly curated garden, where they were able to enjoy gin & tonics, cotton candy (the best ever little station by Punffi Cotton Candy) and live music by local dynamic duo Chillax. Seating for dinner was inside the house, which was kept closed off to guests until dinner time, hoping to surprise them with the beautiful setup inside the classical style rooms. Sectioned off in four main rooms, the idea was to keep the ambience intimate.

The seated dinner was capped off with a fabulous dessert table by Brûlée Gourmet , which was set up in the garden against a backdrop of stunning bougainvillea (one of my favorite blooms).

Following dinner, guests gathered in the outdoor tent space for dancing to the crazy beats of Los Ajenos, one of Costa Rica’s best known bands, who sure do know how to put on a show. The bride’s sister surprised the newlyweds with a circus style carnival by Silbawak which had guests dancing like crazy to the very end!
